Jivraj Singh and Nischay Parekh form dream pop duo Parekh & Singh and hail from the eastern Indian city of Kolkata. Their music is a refreshing breath of air wherein their music is distinctly un-Indian, and has taken no defining features from the tradtional instruments and beats of both India's popular and indie music scene. In fact, they sound more like French dream pop duo Papooz, whose distinct sounds, whilst not alike, are somewhat similar in tonality. Their swooping beats in the song Ghost sings of a shadowing lover who wishes to simply watch over. If one watches the music video, however, one finds out it simply a dead pet, specifically a young girl's dog, that is the "shadowing lover":
Sometimes I get much closer than I intend
The other time I just like to sit out on the fence
Most times I can't even tell the difference
Partially a ghost
Don't you get too close
I love you way more than you know
I'm partially a ghost

In an interview with the Guardian, they are described as: "Parekh and Singh represent a new type of Indian: well-travelled, educated and fashionable, with tastes that have expanded beyond classical folk music or the mass appeal Bollywood song-and-dance numbers to include a western indie repertoire. But despite the international influence, the dreamlike quality of their music and videos is firmly rooted in their hometown of Kolkata, a city frozen in time after decades of communist rule, where shops close not at the end of the day, but whenever the owners decide they’ve done enough to deserve a hot meal and a nap, where strangers stop each other for casual roadside conversations."
