The Preatures Have Raw Originality In 'Girlhood'

Okay, The Preatures have technically been around since 2010 and I ask myself... how did I go this long without hearing their music? As many times that has happened it continues to surprise me how many excellent bands exist right under our nose. The Preatures a band out of Australia who started out as a cover band playing Rolling Stones classics. Now The Preatures have crafted their own style in the nick of time. While the Indie/Garage sub-genre falls short between captivating and well a bit more heavy handed on the instruments (there is nothing wrong with softer played instruments, it's just nice to jam out everyone in a while). The 'Girlhood' track falls somewhere between inner monolog and teen angst from a female perspective.

With a great drum and bass rhythm section, it's a tight-knit combo however, the two have left enough room for a raw gap of space, wide enough to evoke an all out possible thrash/garage take over. Now the guitar and vocals follow each other exceptionally well, vocally with a wisp of vulnerability, The Preatures are not afraid to be tough and you hear that in the vocals. There is an excellent guitar solo which embellishes the effect the track already has on the listener, someone on the edge of their seat as if they were watching The Preatures live on stage. You're waiting and listening for that ultimate moment. Something original. And The Preatures have it.

What stands out for any Garage band is an unfiltered quality, no over production and the feeling that at any moment this band could take the stage and play a show you'll remember. The Preatures may not be a name you come across all the time, but the impact if long lasting as well as memorable.
