Pinegrove is an indie Rock band, originating out of Montclair New Jersey. The band's name is derived from the Brown Family Enviornmental Center at Kenyon College in Ohio.
Members of the group include:
Evan Stephens Hall -vocals and guitar
Zack Levine- Drums and vocals
Sam Skinner banjo and guitar
Nandi Plunkett keyboards, piano, vocals
Josh Marre - guitar and vocals
Adam Carlo -Bass
The genre of the band is a mix of Indie, Rock, Alterntative Country, and Americana. The New York Times highlighted the band with a wonderful article, stating,
"Pinegrove brings strange musical bedfellos to New York. On paper Pinegrove, a hyper literate six piece from NJ, a band with a country twang and EMO essence probably shouldn't work. But it's unassuming debut album, Cardinal cover released last year succeeds on the strength of small gestures. Like the way banjo is layered with a crunchy electric guitar, and poetic lyrics- then turns plain at poignant moments".
The band continues to tour the college circuit, playing at small venues, and has recently also been featured on National Public Radio in the TINY DESK CONCERTS. THe NPR concert featured 4 songs, within the 13 minute concert on air.
Their songs have a confessional quality to their lyrics, with a sincere warm heartedness-
