"Right Now" was an understated return for Haim, a song that confidently, if quietly, closed the door on a relationship that had become toxic. What "Want You Back" does is, (if you were to connect the songs, it's much more fun if you do) is expand the level of emotional turmoil, giving the words of each song a deeper meaning. The chronology of the songs is important: "Right Now" is someone steeling themselves to make the tough decision to let go, "I Want You Back" is accepting that some of the fault is Danielle's giving each song a distinct personality and contextual viewpoint.
Of course these songs may not be connected at all, by that's up to interpretation. For me, who was slightly disappointed by "Right Now" have gained a greater appreciation of the song by comparing and contrasting it with "I Want You Back". The latter is definitely a superior song, it bristles with confidence which is impressive considering its apologetic lyrical content. This is the return of the Haim that I want, I wanted them back, and I got them.
