Little Daylight is a Brooklyn-based alternative band consisting of Nikki Taylor, Matt Lewkowicz and Eric Zeiler. Taking their band name from the story of the same name by George McDonald, they have released an EP, Tunnel Visions in the year 2013 and a full studio album signed by Capitol Records in 2014 called Hello Memory, of which the song Siren Call is a part.
The haunting melody that permeates throughout Siren Call is reminiscent of what could purportedly be a real siren’s call. The lyrics seems almost ethereal, as though beckoning the listener towards the siren, in this case, the temptation of first love:
You told me you've got too much to lose
Another night you hesitate to move
Just because you never loved before, oh oh
Close your eyes & I'll do the same
Leave your past, release the memories
Drop your feels & face the gaze ahead, oh oh
Like a siren call the beating of your heart
Ooh oh, you can find your way
'Cause even in the dark
It leads you on
It leads you ooooon
Take a look at the fantasy eh
It will make your heart believe it, ooh oh oh
Take a look at the fantasy eh
Just a little bit fantasy eh!

The listener should “know” where their heart takes them because once they’ve been enchanted by the song of the siren, they would stop at nothing to get there. This is further backed up by the lines:
“Ooh oh, you can find your way
'Cause even in the dark
It leads you on
It leads you ooooon”
This is due to the legend of the siren, female creatures that lure sailors to their death by their beautiful singing, which purportedly no man can resist. So even if he were in the dark, the persona would be able to find his way through because the call is so strong that his heart would know where to take him.
