Lucius album 'Good Grief' came out in 2016 leading to a successful sophomore return. However, it would be 'Wildewoman' their debut that would plaster the band on the maps of many. The track 'Go Home' is as somber as they come. Even the music video for 'Go Home' doesn't leave much to the imagination except the fact that loneliness is a big contributing factor for the doll in the video. Yet, Lucius is the only Indie band I've come across that can craft such an endearing, hopeless and sad song. Even with the sadness that contains "extra baggage" as one of the lyric line states. There is an experimental chance that hope may come knocking on the door at any moment. That light at the end of the tunnel right before you've hit rock bottom. Lucius comes close to emphasizing the world where a coexistence lives between asking for someone to stay and the aftermath where loneliness breeds.
Lucius is an Indie band from Brooklyn, New York. All five band members not only gravitate as a family unit but the tight-knit quality is heard throughout their music. Luckily 'Go Home' demonstrates the use of knowing one another's exact point of entrance and gradual buildup via instruments and vocal capacity. There is only pure emotional strength invested within this band. Which is rare, to say the least. Typically a band will show up, play and that's the end of the day. Lucius creates an environment where safety conquers fear then leads us down a path of self-discovery.
'Go Home' has as many layers as the next track. However, the execution style feels recorded live. Without releasing too much production and keeping the raw performances at the front of the page. Lucius seems to be singular band ready to transform a few functions and trails that use to be into a new platform for creating music.
