The Electric Feat of Electric Indigo

At first listen The Paper Kites have a familiar sonic sound...although similar to The 1975.  The Paper Kites do offer a difference in structure and vocal quality. Off of The Paper Kites latest album 'twelvefour' with their track 'Electric Indigo' subjects a serene feeling. Maybe a feeling of love almost lost and then gain again. Or simply finding a love for a singular night. 'Electric Indigo' illustrates the actions of a young writer in their music video of the same song. As we watch this young man makes his way to a 'dance only or go' club, a young woman catches his eye. Whether he knows her or not remains to be seen but more than likely this would be a yes. As the young man refuses to join in on the fun, walks outside to only come to the realize that being inside with this young woman is truly what he is intended to do.

By providing the majority of the actions that the video for 'Electric Indigo' performs, safe to say that stepping off of whatever pedestal we have anchored ourselves on should cease to be from time to time. Allow a sweet emotion flow through. As hippie-dippie as it sounds, The Paper Kites are on to something quite wonderful.

While the band comes from Australia, they are gaining a wider audience within the United States. With a particular fingerpicking style that is used for the guitar and since the band is traditionally labeled as a folk band. Others would say that The Paper Kites have shed their skin to reveal an interior more personal, free and emotional. I would suggest that the band has offered a much needed atmospheric action that is recorded on 'twelvefour'.

Purely 'Electric Indigo' falls between a movement known as indie but somehow doesn't come off as overbearing. The Paper Kites are certainly up to some kind of magic in the record studio.
