How I came across Eels' 'Agatha Chang' was from a friend who said this was one of the easiest songs to learn. That friend forgot to mention the subtle sadness involved within 'Agatha Chang'.
Eels have been around since 1996 and since then nearly a dozen albums have graced upon our Earth from this underrated band. By happenstance Eels feel into my lap with 'Agatha Chang'. Even as the song plays out, slowly I am reminded of 'Pale Blue Eyes' which follows along the same premise of an acoustic guitar and lyrics that are talking about another. Whether a lover, friend or acquaintance 'Agatha Chang' makes you re-evaluate life. Espeically the people that have moved on or the individuals you've left behind. Their seems to be no happy ending here except a reflection the notion that memories take time to fade.
The track comes off of THE CAUTIONARY TALES OF MARK OLIVER EVERETT via 2014. As subtle and versatile 'Agatha Chang' is, there seems to be a cautious note or life advice dipped within the song.
