Casual and Impressive

Niall Horan dropped an anticipated song even though the world had no idea Horan was releasing material any time soon. Although unexpected, the eventful song 'This Town' was a much needed surprise. After the departure of One Direction, wondering which direction each member will take via genre and song-writing wise...Niall brings out his acoustic guitar and vocals to the forefront.

By stripping down the song and laying bare the essential melody 'This Town' while upbeat does have a somber tone. Speaking from the heart which Horan has never been a stranger to but this is a clear turn around, expressing an even further heartaching prose. The music video released for 'This Town' is a simple black and white, live recording of Horan with a guitar and microphone. Kind of detailing his life on the road, where Horan has stated that recording on the road was very much a daily part of life. If so, 'This Town' could have been recorded months ago and if so, Horan could have a stack of songs waiting to be released.

This is a nice venture away from the usual pop structure as Horan decides to slide towards a more indie retrospective approach.
