Eerie, chaotic, hypnotic, haunted and casually melancholy. Moses Sumney takes a risk and with 'Worth It' completely scores a hundred and twenty percent excellent rating. With vocals on a more mechanical/machine level as well as higher in pitch...it doesn't come off as obnoxious or useless. Simply Moses Sumney signifies a singular way to approach the whole mechanical vocal technique.
What is genius about 'Worth It' is the the whole atmosphere of machine based. Something truly defies the laws of logic and brings a humane aspect to the overdub and beats. Literally Moses Sumney has casted a spell on challenging what should be a song and what should be left out. 'Worth It' in a similar right is truly a stripped down blues track. Without over thinking and accepting 'Worth It' as a wholesome instrument of acapella, a play on vocal layering and a drum machine.
Indie may not even be the true genre for Moses Sumney's creation. Somewhere between the fine line of blues/folk/hiphop/ambient and new wave might be a general area...however, Moses Sumney deserves a bit of recognition for a heartfelt attempt at creating way pass the boundary lines.
