New Jersey band Delicate Steve (which is led by multi-instrumentalist Steve Marion) was last heard from on Positive Force (2012), a mostly instrumental album that serves as "a strong run at a rapidly forming philosophy of positive vibes and inspiringly innovative playing" (Laura Snapes, Pitchfork).
"Winners" is his latest release, following a recent album deal with Anti-. The purely intrumental track reproduces the tone of resplendent glee and 1970s pop and surf-rock influences that formed the backbone of his last album and his debut, Wondervisions (2011). The general mood is constant, but the seemingly spontaneous arrangement has keyboards, melodies and folksy twangs making pleasantly surprising appearances and detours - effectively fleshing out bliss into a multi-dimensional, constantly evolving state of mind.
