As much of a mystery MIYNT turns out to be, the track 'Cool' allows for a semi-realistic mystery become the center piece for MIYNT transparent sexy and idealism act. While offering a somewhat funky bass beat, one might become reminiscent of an early to mid-1980's track that is without all the overly extravagant pop embellishment of the 80s. Like the lyrics 'Can it be cool' could easily come off as pretentious however, MIYNT does allow some of the pretentious attitude to slide on over. Yet with keeping that last thought, add the pretentious state to a state of rebellious acknowledgement or a nod to the act of what "cool" has become. In this case what "cool" has always symbolized. Everything from the heat of the day to the stuff you're selling...even your house.
A nice touch is the picked guitar strings plucked out to create a sort of Siouxie and the Banshee's 'Hong Kong Garden'. What sticks out the most is that at any second during the song's lifespan MIYNT could take on a New Young Pony Club influence or transform a whole world of the traditional of smooth to the touch sexy and yes...cool. In some ways MIYNT has given the usage of cool back to the word. Gaining ground and picking up the leftover pieces of a generation who destoryed "cool" with emojis and pictorial detail. Hopefully this underground track 'Cool' breaks the surface and radio airwaves will pick up on the attitude to play on rotation.
Let's give 'Cool' back and adjust to a an ending Summer when effortless was a way to live and fads came and went. Coming back and with substantial style, MIYNT may just lead us to a time when pop took a detour to funk.
