The Ache Into Infinity

Nothing But Thieves apparently have no problem with breaking a few hearts with their music video for 'If I Get High'. Which ultimately this music video may top the chart as being one of the saddest and melancholy, plus RJ Mitte (Breaking Bad and Who's Driving Doug?) is quickly becoming an actor that should be on everyone's radar.

Back to the music video for 'If I Get High', we see a father and son relationship falling apart at the seams. After the death of the son's mother, it looks as if the father has no intention or way of comforting his son. While the son wants and continues to get high to remember his mother, the happier counterpart to the family. Nothing But Thieves convey a desparate situation, where the audience would give anything for this young man to be reunited with his loving mother. As day after day passes, an unbareable reality sinks deep, until at last the son achieves a complete state of nirvana. Peaceful and away from the subtle abusive father. Finally, a floating dreamlike sequence unfolds, throwing us into a union between mother and son.

Nothing But Thieves created a mini short film, composing a likely situation into a dream wanting theory. Being able to unite with a lost love one or in this case, the only person who was loving and caring. 'If I Get High' also digs into how we deal and cope with tragic circumstances.
