Young The Giant are coming back with boxing gloves on to take over the indie spectrum. This time around Young The Giant will release their third studio album 'Home of the Strange'. 'Something To Believe In' is the first single off of 'Home Of The Strange', clearing a dedicated path of resilience. After the atomic 'My Body', some wondered if Young The Giant would be able to find a secure song to throw out to the masses. So far from the wicked appeal 'Something To Believe In' provides, one wouldn't question whether this band has anything more to write about.
As a general wild card of band, Young The Giant face a crucial standing point. Will they hit that mid-third album slump or come back fighting, bloody and risktaking. 'Something To Believe In' stages a practial approach to believeing or belief. However, a subtle darkened texture wrings out exactly the ghosts of the past, present and future. No fear, no pain and yet here is a track complicating the matter by questioning all of these belief strategies. A real give an take presence is felt with 'Something To Believe In'.
If 'Something To Believe In' is any indication (as time has shown, artists have released a single that clearly has no right belonging on their new album) of what 'Home of the Strange' will sound like...a surprise treat is in store. But the best part is Young The Giant are showing a new side, an untouched branch of creativity they have yet to embark upon.
Claustrophobic, desillusioned and hopeless...without coming off as depressing. Young The Giant take a stand on rebellion for a new frontier by leading an army of questions without any trace of an answer.
