A Little Bit Folk and A Little Bit Pop Rock

One would ever guess that a banjo could sound a bit...more than a banjo. The Other Words bring their song 'Off My Mind' to a genre well defined by The Lumineers and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. A gratified down home approach full of love, full of hope and a need to sing along. The Other Words take a leaf from the Americana/Rock Pop notebook by combining all the right tools of the trade...a banjo being the main center piece. Although a part of 'Off My Mind' seems to establish a small section to Reggae, an added bonus.

Because of the summer weather and days hanging out by the coast, it is obvious The Other Words know how to inspire the fullfilled life. Especially with the line 'I wanna get high all the time'...however, the band does pair the verse with the actions of trying to forget another. So "Off My Mind" transports between a love sick song to fun in the sun. Then again the fun in the sun essence could be the fact that The Other Words are based out of Southern California. Bottling up the sunshine waves and contributing to the knowledge of broken hearts and super slick lyrics.

Never has a day gone by while driving in the car, a song like this one hasn't popped up on the radio. In other words, The Other Words take a moment to cash in on old folk favors by putting new flavors into "Off My Mind".
