As delicate as the vocals from Ruby Empress are, they tempt us into a nether realm populated with flowers, classy pop stars and heart shaped sunglasses. Nothing quite gravitates towards that Indie Pop barrier like the song 'Deluca'. One might even express in a nonchalant attitude a form of residual 'is this a 90's retro classic or a highly publicized underground new wave sort of band'. Yes, indeed those thoughts did cross a few minds, however Ruby Empress are a true deal and a real on at that. So stick that cherry on top of your banana split and eat it.
Right now there doesn't seem to be too much information on Ruby Empress. Adding the wonderful mysterious factor (kind of like Where's Fluffy? From Nick & Norah). Yet, Ruby Empress make it all too easy to fall in love with 'Deluca'. Maybe because of the soft focus and similar appeal that MGMT brought with 'Electric Feel'. Then again, without so many electronic synth overload, 'Deluca' balances a drum and percussion succession between those ultra rave laser like sounds.
All we can hope for is another single to be uploaded on SoundCloud and gracing our ears or the pages of Nylon soon enough.
