A good drum beat is the essential back bone to any song. No...every song that has ever existed on and off of the internet. If someone tells you otherwise...they are misinformed or have continuously been in bands that have broken up. Take the Cold War Kids song 'First' where even from the first second has a kick drum and clapping sequence that makes most of us want to drool. Although the radio has been playing this song...a lot (yet no one will ever over play as much as Adele) but as a soild foundation of a song track...a list of enthusiastic profanities come to mind. Because what the Cold War Kids have provoked with 'First' is the heart racing, foot stomping encore that each band has credited to their setlist at least a handful of times. You know what I'm talking about, when you go to a show and apparently the show ends but a bunch of people in the front row start chanting encore. 'First' would be the song to fill that encore request.
A bad word hasn't been truly said about this band and that's because a song like 'First' exists on their catalog.
You can't tell me that once 'First' starts playing, your foot doesn't start to tap or your head doesn't move in time to the beat. Think about it, the human body is incapable of not utilizing movement. Taking that into consideration the Cold War Kids have given us the greatest gift by involuntarily changing our mood on will.
