“We all have a story to tell whether we whisper or yell.” - He Is We

All of us, young and old, rich and poor, cynics and optimists, believers or non-believers- we all have backgrounds stories and at times we want to voice out their stories, let them out of our heads because our minds are such powerful places -both a venue for nightmares and for dreamscapes, a place imaginations and fears to best thrive on.

“He Is We,” a band composed of only two persons never failed to make the best music to put on your playlist whether during a feel good and downright depressed moments of people. For me, their best asset is their genius in making song lyrics. They know a lot about rhymes and other stylistic devices but their greatest contribution is the essential meaning that is evoked by their heartfelt songs which strike the listeners with a big impact. They never fail to give eargasms and brainboosts and give people the comfort of beautiful music and healthy creative minds.

One song I would gladly recommend as a first listen is their song “Happily Ever After”, a nice catchy song questioning the possibilities of the future intended to the present situations of lovers. Taking on challenges and overcoming obstacles are important ingredients to a great relationship but sometimes risks have to be taken even if we do not want to. At times we want to see the future in a crystal ball, verify it through tarot card readings- some may even tend to go overboard and perform other silly rituals such as standing in front of a mirror and reciting weird stuff because we all want to know how it ends and skip to the ending. Do we end up happy? Or is the Author of the moment going to give us an ending that we want or what is best for us? These questions basically are the main ones asked by the persona singing in the song. The persona is a girl, in love with a boy, feeling happy but afraid of what may happen in the future or is afraid of taking risks with somebody. Maybe she is one of those hopeless romantics who are drunk on the idea of a “happily ever after” at the end of her story. This song gives off a rhythm of jolliness but a slight tone of uneasiness. Listening to He Is We gives the listeners time to self-reflect and appreciate their feelings.
