Miike Snow is a Swedish indie pop band formed in 2007. The band consists of producing team Christian Karlsson (who is half of the EDM duo Galantis), Pontus Winneberg, and Andrew Wyatt. Miike Snow has expressed a preference for not using laptops when recording and playing music. In light of this, they created an instrument called The Blob which is self-described as "Part synthesizer, part testosterone, all headache” to separate themselves from other live electronic groups.
On their new single entitled “Heart is Full”, I would describe the genre as a funky EDM. You get a consistent pulsating bass-line tied with catchy pop vocals. They use samples and virtual horns to add into the indefinite genre mashing. This creates a very fun and danceable atmosphere that I would enjoy seeing in a live setting.
As a new listener of Miike Snow, this song gathered enough of my interest to encourage me to listen to their music again. If you are a fan of unique sounding pop music, I would encourage you to keep an open mind and try out “Heart is Full”.
