Church For the Soul

Gary Clark Jr. is a lot of potential wrapped up in one man. Between the album The Story of Sonny Boy Slim which is a masterpiece to this individual but also shows a wide range of musicial technique and drive. From multi-instrumentalist to all around gripping song-writer. 'Church' stands alone as the one track to stop any man, woman or child in their tracks. Religion may not need to play a part however, Gary Clark Jr. convinces the masses his love for a woman and no matter what happens, Gary Clark Jr. needs a helping hand. What possess 'Church' is the futile feelings we come in contact with once love has reached it's point. Whether it comes from not being the greatest person but wanting to better yourself for another. Deep would be the term, and deep soul Gary Clark Jr. delivers.

From church for the soul sounds possibly like preaching. If so, that is not the intention. The intention is to hold steady and fast as these thoughts come barreling down the road. Not necessarily at a cross roads but at a stand still, having a little help is all we need.

Between the crash of the acoustic and the placement of harmonica, adding in a touch of percussion...eases the senses. Adrenaline flushes out and a heavenly progression takes advantage. Full of life 'Church' replaces the nay-sayers, soothers and con-men into stepping out of the darkness and settle on a bit of faith even when you're technically not looking for any.
