Electropunk dark trips you can’t ignore
I woke up with a strange feeling of dark love not knowing what to do. So I took a cigarette and started stroking it. So I looked at the sky and started licking it. So I turned on some anxious sounds which were just perfect for that morning. The sounds were called The Dirty Sun. In my industrial city with its dirty skies the sun is rare in winter. There’s March in December behind my window this winter. Grey skies are waiting for something good to happen. And the sun is dirty and sexy. No more caffeine for a week or two. I’d rather listen to music of anxiety more attentively.
The Dirty Sun is electropunk act from San Diego, California. It is a one-man band; and the man’s name is James Ivey. He is responsible for: instruments, yelling and whiskey (according to his bandcamp page). So he’s to blame. He is to blame for uncomfortable, solid and dark atmospheric music consuming all the space around as you turn any of the project’s songs on. Fast and self-assured synthetic beats, rough bass-lines, dreamy leads and pads, distorted vocals – all this is cold and melodic. The man’s got something to say and show. His music leads somewhere to the underworld and dark dreamy places you really want to visit.
“Play it loud!” – well, okay James, no problem. We will play it loud and watch what happens. The Dirty Sun has numerous releases to be played loud which you will find following the links below. This project is a really interesting act which is to be explored at nights with whiskey and melancholic thoughts of all colors and intentions. Melodies seem to be simple but not primitive; catchy but not annoying. The Dirty Sun has style and vision. What else do you need?
