Iconic French duo Air (Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel) have recently shared "Indian Summer" (a previously limited track), in anticipation of Twentyyears (2016): a best of compilation that includes some of their memorable 1990s hits like "La Femme D'argent" and "Sexy Boy".
The instrumental track is languid yet dynamic, consisting of a smooth bass, funky strings and rather eerie/surreal-sounding sonic shifts. The mood it evokes doesn't seem to fit neatly in the more commonly known definition of its title: (1) "a period of unusually dry, warm weather occurring in late autumn" (fun trivia: this phrase was part of the lyrics to a certain Katy Perry song).
It might be somewhat of a stretch, but perhaps there's a sense of belated satisfaction in the track, as befitting definition (2): "a period of happiness or success occurring late in life." In any case, Godin and Dunckel should certainly celebrate two decades of innovative work.
