I’ve discovered that I am a huge fan of Thomas Rhett. I find his music to be a ray of sunshine in the country music landscape. My favorites among his songs include “Beer With Jesus,” “Make Me Wanna,” “Got to Get Me Some of That,” and “Die A Happy Man.” Up till now, those songs have caused me to love his music.
There is another Thomas Rhett album in the works that outlines all the aspects of family life from getting married to getting his daughter Willa and the upcoming new daughter to be added to his family. I’ve listened to “Craving You” and the uptempo “Unforgettable.” I loved both singles from the album and can’t wait to hear for the rest. The first single of the album has Rhett and soprano singer Maren Morris singing an octave apart from each other. It has a great dance beat and it is something you can dance to, much like the rest of the exciting climate of the top-40 country charts. It is in the key of A minor. I wonder why these sort of desperate love songs are always or almost always in a minor key? There are some love songs that are personal that are in the major key. I can definitely sense a different vibe with the way music is turning in this song. By contrast, there is “Unforgettable,” a beautiful statement and a biography on him meeting his wife Lauren. It’s such a beautiful song, more like an uptempo version of “Die A Happy Man.” It’s in the key of G major which is a fabulous choice with an acoustic guitar leading the charge instrumentally. It’s a fabulous riff. The riff developed into a positive dance type track with the lyrics that then followed.
I’ve listened to some of the other cuts on the album and they all sound great. From these cuts, he has a lot of happier tracks that are really upbeat. He is not that much of a balladeer and that’s okay. We need happier songs in this day and age even if these are used as an escape from all the turmoil and the toil that dances across our attention today. I would say, buy the album if you are a fan of country music. You won’t be disappointed. The album comes out in September. Support this artist. He really is a cool one.
