What happens when you take a clever lyricist in the mold of Tom T. Hall who looks like George Strait and rocks like there's no tomorrow? You get Buck T. Edwards. Six great albums since 2009, each exploring a different frame of the country/rock/blues universe and all worth your attention. Starting with the classic, "If You Don't Get it by Midnite," Buck takes us on a journey through time and space and every roadhouse and honky tonk in between. With titles like "Straight to Hello," and "I Ain't Better than Anyone," Buck seemlessly blends barhouse lyrics and rock sensibilities. "Loaded Gun," may be my personal favorite but the follow-up "Release Your Inner Redneck" is also a classic. Buck hinted towards Newgrass with "All That's Missing is You" before hitting a home run with "Kickin' Ass and Takin' Names" and finally releasing "Good Times, Good Times: The Greatest Hits of Buck T. Edwards. Word on the street is that he took a year off from life to write and is sitting on a huge pile of songs, so look for the journey to continue while enjoying the ride along the way!
