What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Sold out show.

People dancing.

All-around fun.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

I would say my unreleased songs are my favorite because of how different they are from my usual Afro vibe.

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

The Weeknd because it's always a vibe

Future because his music always hypes me up

and Micheal Jackson because every time I hear his music I just want to dance and sing.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Michael Jackson.

If I could have any time to learn from an artist I'd want to learn from the greatest to ever do it.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

Fun

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

The Weeknd's music isn't music to just throw on as background noise.

You have to experience and feel the topics he covers to really understand his cryptic and melodic lyrics.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

It would be very difficult to choose just one artist you know?

I think I would love to go on tour with Burna Boy because I just know it would always be a great time.

Rema is up there because I know I could learn a lot from him in terms of crowdwork and songwriting.

The Weeknd for sure just because of the aura and energy he puts into his work, on top of that I would love to be able to sit down with him and receive some help crafting my next big song and maybe even have him as a feature.

Overall it's very hard to choose since I have so much respect and influence from multiple artists.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

My Music is definitely for a more adult audience.

I talk about many of my experiences that tend to be a lot more adult.

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

To be known as an energetic artist where people can stop the violence even if it is just for a few minutes, to come together and have fun as a music-loving community.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

Aside from just the love I have for creation, I genuinely do it for my family and my loved ones.

to show them that no matter how hard a path may seem, that very same path is 100% possible.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

Patience and Consistency.

There have been so many times when I've just wanted to give up and quit making and releasing music but I always tell myself that I haven't done enough. That I need to go harder every single time I write, practice, and especially when it is time to record a track.

I won't be signed to a label in 24 hours with only 3 songs out. That would be damn near impossible.

Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
Answer:

I wouldn't like to be compared to any artist other than myself.

But I'm very much inspired by multiple other artists like Rema, Burna Boy, Serani, Lloyd, Future, The Weeknd, Michael Jackson, and so forth.

Which mediums of art do you most identify with?
Answer:

I feel the most emotions when I gaze upon my partner's work in Mixed Media. It's not that I'm biased. Her work just hits me differently.

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

My current favorite work of art has to be "Woman I" by William de Kooning.

I'm not quite sure how to explain the abstract art piece other than it grasps one's attention and makes your mind wander deep into thought. It is also very satisfying to look at.

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

My life has been everything but lonely, I have a great relationship with my team who help engineer a lot of the songs my listeners receive and I have a spectacular woman who loves me.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

My artistic outlook on life is mostly just being able to take a minute to breathe.

Enjoy your surroundings and look up to the future instead of being stuck in the past.

This crazy train called life doesn't stop for anyone, so you have to make the most of it.

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

I just really like being able to bring people together and make sure everyone is having a good time.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

I've worked from kitchen staff,  to working as a server in resturants, I've even worked as a security guard.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

I would change all the hate and animosity within the community because I want everyone to come together and make the best creations and grow.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

I remember being in a tiny studio with the artist Squalla and I was very antisocial since I was young I was around grown adults so I was a little shy. Eventually, I got called out as "Mr Miscellaneous" by Squalla.

But we had a great time at thanksgiving and went hard at UNO.

thanks for the Jollof Rice!

What has been your scariest experience while pursuing music?
Answer:

Living in South Central LA you see a lot of wild stuff.

Eventually, you become numb to the chaos.

Name a song that best represents success to you, and why?
Answer:

I would say "Slave to the Rhythm" by Michael Jackson.

The song just hooks you and makes you want to sing along and embody Micheal Jackson's move set.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

To provide a fun and ear-pleasing service.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

Energy.

I'm already an energetic person and for me to be able to put that into my craft is going to make people catch the vibe.

I'm also very relatable so people that listen to my music or know me in person can relate to me heavily.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

To me, success as an artist is when you have a loyal diehard fanbase.

Your fanbase is what is going to get you to where you want to be.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

A lot of people don't picture my face when they hear my music first so the surprise is very funny to me.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

I practice my vocals. I never considered it before, but I guess vocals play a big part in recording.

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

I use Distrokid to share and distribute my songs.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Fun

Energetic

Different

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

I want people to feel energetic and happy when they listen to my music.

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

Rooftop parties in downtown Los Angeles.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

Definitely, Rema because I just know we'd make absolute fire collaborations.

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

3 Years Ago I was making rap music but everything did a 360 when I moved out to Los Angeles after graduating from High School.

I went from being just a Rapper to a Afrobeat/Afropop artist so there was a lot of work with the pen and just finding my sound you know?

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

This song plays hard into the Afrobeat and Afropop genres and sounds.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

Back in my freshman year of high school, I met this kid in my world history class who used to make beats.

Ever since then I've just been recording and recording. But I started taking a more serious approach I would say my junior year of high school.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

Growing up I was always surrounded by Reggae, Reggaeton, and lots of Dancehall sounds, so I guess it kind of just stuck with me as I got older.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

From what I can remember my family would play lots of Merengue and Bachata around me while I was still a small kid.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I'm Dewito and I make fun music for everyone to dance to
