Are there any other passions in your life apart from music and do you live them out?
Answer:

Oh yeah, and I also need these to balance things out. I love cooking and baking and have been experimenting with healthier food options for a long time, especially sugar-free desserts. I also have a baking and cookbook in the works that will be published soon. I am very interested in healthy, sustainable nutrition and a healthy lifestyle with vitamins and food supplements. I live a very disciplined and healthy life myself and am also very interested in the topic of staying young and fit.   In summary, I am concerned with human health, well-being and fitness. That's why sport and exercise is my daily companion, I do an extensive fitness and strength program at least 5 times a week and try to maintain the balance for a modern, healthy and sustainable lifestyle. True to the motto - live younger and healthier for longer - live well! And I would like to share these experiences with everyone soon. Yes, and last but not least, I discovered my passion for motorcycling a little later. I am the proud owner of a Harley Davidson, which I regularly ride on my tours and laps. It frees me up and relaxes my mind.

What is your favorite song you have made, and why?
Answer:

My song "So allein ohne dich" (So alone without you) , a rock ballad. It is currently only available in German, but we are also working on a new international version. The song is about great love, about a soul mate in which you have shared everything, know each other through and through, had no secrets and have gone through highs and lows, spent every minute together. And again and again the thought comes up, what if the person is suddenly torn from your life? A very emotional song that contains a lot of me. This fear, this thought accompanies me again and again and it is the same for many people out there. That's why I wrote this love song before the time came to sing it from my soul.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX-uLZLFGyk

What is the strangest place where you have discovered a new song?
Answer:

When I was on tour. I fell asleep on the floor of a hotel room while writing the lyrics.

How would you describe your favorite artist's music to someone who has never heard them before?
Answer:

Handmade rock music, with a lot of power and a lot of feeling.

How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Answer:

Real, handmade rock music, with a lot of Power, sometimes accompanied by modern synth sound influences, melodious and sometimes with profound themes, has something of an arena rock sound. But I like to call my music "Generation Rock" for young and young-at-heart rock fans because it has the most diverse inspirations and influences of the rock genre, including soulful ballads.

What does your dream performance look like?
Answer:

Antonja on the Plaza de Toros Palma de MallorcaPlaza de Toros Palma (Coliseo Balear)Plaza de Toros Palma de Mallorca

A concert where you can feel the energy between me and my fans and it takes us all emotionally, so that we want to experience it again and   again, from atmosphere, pure joy to tears with a lot of feeling, everything is there. And in a location that I think is so worthy and appropriate   in terms of its design that it would round off this concert perfectly and it would be repeated every year, like a big get-together with lots of       friends. In the Arena Plaza de Toros in Plama de Mallorca, (Coliseo Balear) 10 minutes from the airport. We plan this in a short time!!

What do you want people to feel when they listen to your music?
Answer:

Depending on how you are feeling at the moment, my music should first and foremost carry you away, give you strength, make you forget everyday life, but also be chilling and relaxing. Depending on the song, a little goose bump or a few tears because my song or lyrics have reached your heart. My music should also make you think and create memories.

What is your favorite way of sharing your music?
Answer:

Preferably LIVE on stage, but also through my music videos, as there is usually a well thought-out story or a deeper background that I can work into it. I like to be creative in this respect and my producer is a great role model for me. But what I'm really looking forward to, apart from the streams and download options for the singles, is that there will be vinyls and CDs for my first rock album. I'm already looking forward to holding the first copies in my hands.

Which mediums of art do you most identify with?
Answer:

Music and Video. I can combine the music and lyrics with visual images and stories during songwriting.

How would you define having an artistic outlook on life?
Answer:

I would summarize this as follows. An artistic existence refers to the life and work of a person who is primarily dedicated to art. This can be expressed in various forms, such as as a visual artist, musician, writer or performer. It involves an intensive engagement with creative processes and the constant search for new forms of expression and ideas. An artistic existence can also go hand in hand with a certain lifestyle and a particular sensitivity to aesthetic experiences. You should simply be creative, stay open to new things, do everything you can to feel young and stay young. Always develop your mindset.

How have your other passions reinforced your process of making music?
Answer:

As I always wanted to be on stage, I was self-confident, determined and always made myself known wherever possible in order to be able to realize this dream. My naivety and nervousness, but also my creativity, spontaneity and adaptability have certainly made it possible for me to enter the music industry. All these qualities were like an engine for me.

What three words would you want your fanbase to use to describe you?
Answer:

Power woman with a big heart, positive, approachable, honest and compassionate.

Who is your dream artist or musician to collaborate with?
Answer:

I would love to shoot a music video with Dwayn Jonson "The Rock" and his children, I think his attitude, his humanity and his charisma are great - it gets me emotionally. Musically with Pink, Miley Cyrus, Rammstein, Foo Fighters, preferably with all of the above, that would be very exciting :-)

If you could only listen to three artists for the rest of your life, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Bon Jovi, he has many hits and songs that are timeless and that I always enjoy listening to. Miley Cyrus, I'm sure there will be a lot of good things and variety to come, as she is a young artist who is constantly evolving. And Tina Turner, she has an incredible number of hits and great songs.

If you could attend a performance by any artist, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
Answer:

Queen - With Freddy Mercury, for me he is the symbol of entertainment, show and he didn't allow himself to be pigeonholed musically and always surprised with a new sound and yet it was always characterized by his own style. That was always the hallmark of this band.

What themes do you explore throughout your music?
Answer:

In my previous genre I felt increasingly restricted in that respect, where lyrics about an ideal world or about love and heartache were more in demand. I also want to write songs about other topics, sometimes about time-critical or social issues. But also from my own life about the joys of life as well as suffering. Maybe just a fantasy story, but of course also about passion, the feeling of life, love and freedom and about everything you can just party to. About everything that moves people and me.

How does your background play into this song?
Answer:

The song is not just about superficial entertainment. These haunting lines of "Shadow Fight" are about a profound subject: the ego. I describe how the ego has haunted me my whole life and how I was finally able to free myself from what that feels like.
With lines like "When my ego goes, then I'm free and wise" and "I've finally conquered the ego, I feel better and not like a fraud", I not only speak from my soul but I think it speaks from the soul of many of us. The lyrics of the song are about a person's inner battle with their ego. The ego is portrayed as a constant companion and shadow that influences life. The ego is not all bad, it can motivate us but unfortunately it can also be a major hindrance. In the course of life, we should always reflect on ourselves in order to develop further. But sometimes the ego gets in the way. I wanted to package this very profound topic in catchy music. The powerful guitar riffs and the driving rhythm underline the message of SHADOW FIGHT. With energy and passion, the song becomes a battle cry that motivates you and shows you that you can achieve anything if you just fight.  That's how I felt about this theme myself. It's an issue for everyone, you should deal with it and preferably in connection with music.

Who are you and what do you do?
Answer:

I'm Antonja, the name with a characteristic "J". I make rock music. This "J" is an exclamation mark ❗behind who I am and what I stand for: The "J" in my name ANTONJA? It's also a symbol - a statement, it stands for 'now or never' - for change, for transformation, for courage, respect, tolerance, self-determination, clarity and yes, also for controversy. Because what is rock music without a bit of rebellion? 💥 I was born in Linz, Austria, but because of the music I live alternately in Germany near Frankfurt am Main and on the Spanish island of Mallorca. I have been making music full-time for 25 years, have had several chart hits and am the proud owner of gold and platinum awards. I have performed live almost all over the world and I write most of my songs myself or play an active part in them.

What is your earliest memory of listening to music?
Answer:

Music has always had a big impact on me. My father has always made music. He was also a solo entertainer but only privately and played almost every style of music at every opportunity. A lot of it wasn't to my taste as a very young person. But it shaped me and I sang with him again and again. In my youth I was a big Bon Jovi fan and a fan of Linda Perry and "For non Blondes". I thought her style was great. As a child of the 80s, this music naturally influenced and accompanied me, but also the 90s. I enjoyed listening to dance and techno just as much as rock music. I have a very broad taste in music and sometimes listen to classical music to relax.

At what moment in your life did you decide to become an artist / performer?
Answer:

I can't remember exactly when it was, I have the feeling it was there from birth. There were always shows on TV where you could take part and be on stage, I always wanted to be there as a child. But I never managed it. It remained a dream for a long time. I used to sing in front of the mirror in my room every day with a hairbrush in my hand as a microphone. Then I was in a school band where we played our first gigs at school and then went to singing lessons. The fire was always there and I strived for the stage and music at every opportunity.

What genres does this release play into?
Answer:

The song is published under "Rock". I like to call my music style "Generation Rock" because it has all the influences for young and young-at-heart rock fans.

What jobs have you done other than being an artist?
Answer:

I did an apprenticeship in an office as an industrial clerk and then worked in a discotheque chain in Austria as an artist manager and presenter for shows and was involved in the organization of the entire marketing. All areas and activities that helped me a lot in my music career.

What is your overarching goal as an artist?
Answer:

I want to write and release many more songs. I want to leave my mark with my lyrics and my music. I want to do something to convey to people that there are many people who have the same worries and problems that we have, and yet we need to escape from everyday life, switch off and we can do that together. Peacefully united, with mutual tolerance, respect and joy all over the world through music. That it is worth standing up for something together and fighting for it, sometimes loudly and firmly, but always peacefully and respectfully.

Do you have one main reason driving you to continue making music?
Answer:

I think it's still the fire of making new music, bringing it to the stage and celebrating with my fans. It's still a special experience for me to sign autographs afterwards and exchange a few words with some of them. I see and feel the joy of my fans and that is an incredibly nice feeling.

What is the most significant lesson you've learned through being an artist?
Answer:

That you have to be careful how you choose your words when you are the focus of public attention. That many statements and promises in this industry should be taken with a grain of salt. Always keep your eyes and ears open. And don't allow yourself to be bent or shut up.

Name three artists you’d like to be compared to.
Answer:

Joan Jett, Miley Cyrus, Evanescence

Has being an artist made your life lonely? How do you counteract this?
Answer:

In my case, I don't think so because I have someone in my private life who supports me and always has my back. But there were and still are moments when you are confronted with people who know you from media reports and TV shows and you can't really assess why they want to get to know you now? Simply as a person or as an artist because you are a celebrity? You've already had a few experiences. But I understand people's fascination. Some really want to get to know you as a person, others might want to take advantage of you. I think you should take a relaxed approach, always give it a chance, let it develop, but also set boundaries and, if necessary, clean up your act. Put negative or disappointing experiences behind you and look positively to the future. Then I don't think you will become lonely.

If you could go on tour with any artist, who would it be and why?
Answer:

Oh, there are a few :-) - With Miley Cyrus, Pink, would be very cool, but also with Rammstein, Foo Fighters and Metallica. And also with Bryan Adams.

What role do you believe the artist has in our society?
Answer:

I think that artists who are in the public eye do have a responsibility. After all, many people follow them through their music or via social media. But you can't blame or condemn artists for every word they say or controversial behavior because we are all only human. But as an artist, it is also your role to evoke emotions with your work, to move, animate, motivate and make people think. To create memories and take people out of their everyday lives with music.

Name a song that best represents success to you, and why?
Answer:

"We are the Champions" by Queen. It's such a powerful song. Totally timeless because there will always be champions and we humans always need some. The song fits so many occasions and on top of that Freddy Mercury was also an excellent singer.

If you could alter the music industry in any way, what would you change and why?
Answer:

That opportunities are created where every artist has the same chances for advertising and marketing from the very beginning. More transparency without fakes and backdoors.  Because a lot of things then usually only benefit the really big companies in the music industry.

What is your favorite work of art?
Answer:

It's not just a song! Currently my song "My Lord", it's the message of the song and the story of the music video. There are lines like...My Lord help me in my life again and again, give it to me when I deserve it, what can I do to do justice to you, to me, to life? Because you can be crazy and make mistakes but always get back on track and do good. But it is also my first rock song "What a Night", with it I connect my musical transformation, the breakout from all rules, to have mustered the courage of change, into the unknown to my true passion of rock music. And there's one I have to mention, "1000 Träume weit-Tornero", it's my song from my time when I was making German-language pop, also known in German as Pop-Schlager. I wrote this German text and I associate so much with it. The lyrics came from my soul, I was traveling so much and longed for little private breaks in togetherness and that's what I did in my mind. This longing is described in "1000 Dreams Far", a very authentic song. It was the beginning of a path of change and development for me as an artist and has since gone double platinum.

What has been your most embarassing moment while pursuing music?
Answer:

As I grew into the music industry I landed a No. 1 hit in Germany, Austria etc. almost overnight together with another singing partner... I, or rather we, were not prepared for it. This music genre was not really my music but it was a lot of fun and it was an opportunity that came my way. I was introduced to a superstar on one of the first TV shows in this genre, and I didn't know him at all. Somehow I felt like I was being shown up, which was very embarrassing because apparently I was the only ignorant one.

How do you plan on being a game-changer within your genre?
Answer:

Through authenticity and hard work and development. I didn't want to stay in one genre my whole life if my soul was burning somewhere else. Not for money and not to please others. Even though I really enjoyed the earlier genres and did them with conviction, in retrospect it was the educational stairs and stations on even bigger stages that were waiting for me.

What is your definition of success as an artist? How do you measure this success?
Answer:

The real success for me is not in the form of high chart positions or awards. Success is when people consume my music over a long period of time, come to my concerts and I can make a living from it over this long period of time. That my loyal fans enable me to do this and that I can do what I enjoy most, making a living from my music. That is the real success for me!

How has your sound and style evolved in the last 3 years?
Answer:

I've been making different music for over 20 years and have always continued to develop. Then 3 years ago I made a total change to rock music and since then we have been refining my rock sound. We are currently working on many songs for my first rock album. A rich guitar sound with driving and banging drums is important to me, but also sometimes paired with synth sounds and elements familiar from the dance genre. I don't want to be restricted musically, there will also be more emotional songs in the form of ballads, there will be a few surprises and maybe I'll even surprise myself. I want to decide according to my feelings.

What is the most memorable response you've had to your work?
Answer:

When you sing a song of yours, get a standing ovation and after the concert this song is requested for the third time as an encore, you sing it again, then leave the stage during the farewell and people sing this song again and again even though you are already gone. An indescribable feeling that moved me to tears backstage and I will never forget.

Do you practice? How has your practice changed over time?
Answer:

Yes, I practise regularly. Today even more than before. I take more time. I have different expectations of myself today, also because of the music, and I still want to develop vocally. It's my profession.
