About:
Reynaldo Armas is one of Venezuela's most successful musicians. Best-known for his interpretation of romantic ballads, Armas has sold more than six million copies of his recordings since 1975. Residing in Caracas since 1971, Armas has found a supportive audience in Colombia, where he performs often. One of five brothers, Armas began composing and singing his own songs at the age of 12. Within three years, he had made his debut on the Venezuelan state-sanctioned radio station. Armas' breakthrough came with his performance at the Cantaclaro De Oro festival, held in the city of San Fernando de Apure, in 1975. Although he released his first single, "My First Love" b/w "False Affection," in 1975, it took another three years before he helped introduce a modern style of Creole music. Armas has been extremely prolific as a songwriter, composing more than 350 tunes. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
