About:
Atoosa Grey is a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and poet. To date, Atoosa has released one EP and three full-length albums, toured and performed steadily at NYC’s finest listening rooms. Her book of poems entitled "Black Hollyhock" was published in 2015 by Finishing Line Press.
"Dear Darkness" is Atoosa’s first album in a decade, scheduled for release on April 23, 2021. The songwriter and poet explores a dialogue of fearless confrontation. The 8-song body of work puts her first love, piano, at the forefront. She wrote it all on the instrument, and chose to texture her playing with nuanced band interplay. “These songs detail the way the dark can transform, heal, and toughen us; and ultimately how struggle can be a source of much richness in our lives,” Atoosa reveals.
"Combining the open wound delivery of Patty Griffin with the breezy elegance of Deadstar’s Caroline Kennedy, Atoosa Grey is a singer/songwriter of tremendous talent. On her fourth full-length effort, When The Cardinals Come, the New Yorker takes a long look at love, desire and all the closed-fisted miles the heart has to travel by itself before it can finally open."
