WaxFeet’s unorthodox tracks transcend Chill, giving the listener a chance to sink deep beneath their lush sonic environments - navigating the exotic sonic wilderness where porch breeze Bossanova meets world music and neo classical electronica. Waxfeet, the formal founder of the band, came of age when the late 70’s Minneapolis music scene was percolating and eventually hooked up co-producer Patrick Brede, who became a permanent engineer and band member. Both went on to study music and computer science at prestigious universities. Now the duo finds joy in breaking the rules, crafting unusual audiovisual environments that sit somewhere between J Dilla and Ta-ku - minimalistic, innovative melodies, marinated in lo-fi hip hop grooves. Waxfeet is a word derived from surf terminology, which is fitting, seeing as the band specializes in liquid flow electronica that is intended to act as a de-stressing agent. Reflecting on their process, the duo assert, “We often ask ourselves: to chill, or not to chill? There is enough commotion in life without jacking up brain waves further. We are driven to write music that heals. Without words.”
