The Pinkerton Raid
Acerca de:
You know those people who are regulars at music festivals – and who just plain listen to music – in order to store up energy to do the work that cares for other people? The teachers, healers, yogis, activists, advocates, all-world volunteers and social-justice cheerleaders? The Pinkerton Raid makes music for those people. Slotting at grassroots festivals from southern Appalachia to the New England coast, the band pushes at the borders of folk, Americana, retro soul and indie rock to craft a soundtrack for dreaming around a campfire and marching in the streets. “We want to make you feel, make you think and move your body, all at the same time,” says songwriter Jesse James DeConto. The Pinkerton Raid has shared stages with Illiterate Light, The Ballroom Thieves, Noah Gundersen, Denison Witmer and Lowland Hum. Back-to-back releases in 2017 & 2018 brought the band from Charleston to Chicago to Brattleboro, Vt., with slots at EnoFest and Shakori Hills, a session at Daytrotter and critical acclaim from Paste, Popdose, WUNC and more. “A stunning synthesis of folkloric beauty,” said Aquarian Weekly. “There’s big love for justice, freedom and equality,” said IndyWeek. Americana-UK called the songs “anthemic.” “You won’t be able to stop humming,” said No Depression. "Politically charged ... impassioned ... blistering," said The Big Takeover. The band's fifth full-length album, due out in 2021, includes two recent singles, "Dream the Sun" and "Rebel Mama Blues."
