DBUK
Acerca de:
DBUK consists of the four core members of Denver, Colorado band Slim Cessna’s Auto Club: Munly J. Munly, Slim Cessna, Lord Dwight Pentacost, and Rebecca Vera. While SCAC has spent the last two decades honing a lethal mix of country blues, gospel shouting, rock & roll, and folk, DBUK's sound is more subdued, ethereal, and intimate. Haunting, warped murder ballads come with a louche, anti-spiritual cast. Limerence and longing co-exist with casual cruelty. The compositions can also feature remarkable details of the natural world. The songs often begin sparingly, building into an ecstatic reverberation of instruments and voices. Reverb and shake rattles abound, lending a spaghetti western vibe. The arrangements are complex, layered, menacing and gorgeous, and the dark humor of chief songwriter Munly is threaded through the songs - lest anyone mistake the menace for malice. DBUK released their first album "Songs One Through Eight" in 2015. Their followup release, "Songs Nine Through Sixteen," was released in 2019 on the band's own label, SCAC Unincorporated. Both albums have also been issued in a single package in Europe by Glitterhouse Records, under the title "Songs One Through Sixteen."
