The Bangtan Boys are screaming charisma in the music video for Save Me!
The Bangtan Boys, a.k.a. BTS, are back with another surefire hit song and a brilliant music video with their patented awesome dance moves!
Jungkook, Jimin, V, Jin, J-Hope, Suga and Rap Monster, collectively known as BTS, are definitely heating things up this summer. After dropping off their first compilation album, “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever” (화양연화: Young Forever) last May 2, the boys have set a record as trailblazers across the K-POP world. Suffice it to say, BTS is undeniably the hottest K-POP act right now.
The album, which has a total of 23 songs, include songs from their first two albums, The Most Beautiful Moment In Life, Part 1 and The Most Beautiful Moment In Life, Part 2, plus three new songs and several new remixes of their more popular songs.
After releasing the music video for their slow, ballad-ish, coming-of-age song, "Epilogue: Young Forever", the boys just kept on going. They didn't even let the fans catch their breath before dropping the epic and sizzling hot music video for their second track, "Fire".
Their popularity soared even higher with the music video for "Fire" reaching almost 10 million views on YouTube in just a couple of days. Alex Rees, contributing writer for cosmopolitan.com, has nothing but compliments and praises for BTS. He wrote: "the choreography is on fire too, which is why the band has also released a special video that's all about the dance moves." He added that he is now a fan of this K-POP group, naming the leader Rap Monster as his favorite member.
"It's amazing! I can't stop watching it! It should be noticed that "dance version" alt videos are quite common in K-Pop, because the choreography is so often all kinds of baller, but this is just particularly epic," he spazzed in his blog entitled “Just Watch this K-POP Group Dance”.
As though the two music videos previously released were not enough to drive the fans crazy, the boys added icing on top of the already sumptuous cake by releasing the music video for “Save Me”, one of their new tracks in the album.
When I first heard this song, I thought it was “alright”. Not bad, but not “DAMN GOOD” either. It was catchy enough, but not as catchy and epic as “Fire”. However, when I saw the music video, I was blown away! It wasn’t on the same level as the choreography for “Fire”, but it was on a league of its own.
The dance routine was smooth, almost rhythmic and the flow was easy on the eyes. The boys didn’t hold back on the charisma part. It didn’t involve lots of complicated and breathtaking dance moves, but the boys’ synchronicity and swag throughout the routine made it pretty amazing. The only thing I could comment on was the background and setting of the music video. It was just some sort of barren desert, making it a bit depressing. I didn’t see the connection with the song’s lyrics. It was too simple and uncreative, in my opinion. But then again, I guess the dance routine and choreography were the highlights of the music video.
According to Jeff Benjamin of fusetv.com, BTS shot the intense choreography using a “one-take video”. He commented that it “solidifies how strong and cohesive this group is with their performances”. He mentioned that the one-take method is gaining popularity in K-POP music videos, but “most of the time there is a clever moment where the filming does break, making it more appropriate to call them a two- or three-take video”. With BTS, the “little moments where the members don't totally finish singing a line in the "Save Me" filming (moments that would easily be re-shot) indicate that the guys really did this all in one take. It's not something most acts can pull off and is a remarkable moment in BTS' videography.”
With their songs topping the charts, not just locally but internationally as well, their music videos garnering millions of views on YouTube, their album selling like hotcakes, and their dance choreography being the talk of the town, the boys of BTS are definitely a force to be reckoned with.
