Cox was Honored Thursday Night for His “Farpoint” Score from Sony Interactive Entertainment
Stephen E. Cox, an award-winning film, television and video game composer, won the Hollywood Music in Media Award Thursday night for “Best Score: Video Game” for “Farpoint” from Sony Interactive Entertainment.
The honor was presented at Avalon Hollywood during the annual event, which recognizes and honors the music of visual mediums such as film, TV, video games, and music videos; the talented artists involved in those areas; as well as mainstream and independently-produced music from around the world. This year acclaimed songwriter Diane Warren received the Outstanding Career Achievement award.
Cox went on to say, “Thanks to the HMMA’s for this amazing recognition! To be trusted with this score by the innovative minds at Sony and Impulse Gear was more than an honor. There are so many creative and kind souls in this vibrant industry and I am deeply humbled to be brought into the fold. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Stephen has actively worked as a multi-talented composer, sound designer, and sound editor on films, television, and video games, since the age of 20. Some of his credits include Gravitas Venture’s “Apocalypse Later: Harold Camping vs The End of the World” and the award winning documentary “Downhill: The Bill Johnson Story” to name a few.
“Farpoint” is a video game developed by Impulse Gear and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The game is an unnerving VR space adventure set on a hostile alien planet. On a mission to pick up scientists studying an anomaly near Jupiter, a rupture from the anomaly transports the player and scientists to an unknown alien world. It was released on the PlayStation 4 on May 16, 2017.
