The girl who can do everything

I was a bit surprised to see a music video by Cara Delevingne appear on my suggestion list for blogs. I mean, can this girl do everything? Really? She’s already a successful model and actress, but she’s a pretty cool singer too.

Her voice sounds as I would expect it to. It’s pretty low and dark, which I think suits the way she looks. It’s all a bit alternative. Her music is a bit of a surprise. It’s jazzy!

The song is called “I Feel Everything” and is recorded for the movie, “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.” It turned out that it’s the third time she sang a song for a movie. In fact, Cara could’ve already released full albums by now, but turned down a record deal when the label required her to change her name. I wonder what their logic was on that? She already made quite a name for herself leaving it as is.

When it comes to the topic of “I Feel Everything”, my interpretation is that it’s about being at the beginning of falling in love with someone. You feel the love, but everything else also gets intensified, too.

Recently, I criticized Pharrell Williams for losing his touch on the Despicable Me 3 soundtrack, but as a producer of this song, he did such great work. Cara’s vocals don’t sound like that were altered, but they are left as pure as can be with no digital trickery.

It’s not the first time the two have worked together. They were both in a short film when they first worked together and collaborated on a duet called “CC The World” for this. The film was called “Reincarnation” and was played during a Chanel show (it can be viewed here on Chanel’s YouTube channel).

It looks like the two appeal to their more artsy side and, if the results could lead to more tracks like “I Feel Everything”, I’m really open to the idea of a full album by Cara.

The video for the song gives it a bit of a Bond vibe, too (if you ignore the bits with the aliens, LOL. Bond as yet to fight his first alien). I think it’s a really cool how everything she does comes together in the video. She models a bit, acts a bit and sings. Maybe this girl can do everything.
