Soundtrack Composer—John Buckley’s Highly Glamorous Jason Borne Soundtrack

There seem to be two John Buckleys. One is the classical composer and the other is a soundtrack composer, known for his work in scoring the Jason Borne movies. His scoring techniques are delectable and so common for the current times in film music. The music in the set that is here on Kurrent is very eclectic and captures the very action of what the market for movies is doing nowadays. I could hear glass crashing with high sounding cymbals and other clanging percussion as the main character of the Jason Borne movies flies through the air into buildings, through windows, the whole scene.

The music just inspires you and keeps you on the solid edge of your seat. Talk about almost hurling through different dimensions with this music. It is absolutely heart-pounding! There are some quiet moments in the soundtrack like “Las Vegas” and “Berlin,” but those moments are quickly done away with as new and thumping drums come into the mix, signaling yet another climactic scene. Moments where the music is most climactic are “Motorcycle Chase,” “Remember Everything,” “Flat Assault,” and “Following The Target.” All of these are underscored by heavy layers of thundering drums. This is the template for most of the tracks on the collection. Massive layers of horns adorn the melodic and harmonic textures as is common in high-voltage action movie soundtracks. These tracks are full of fire and suspense and really impress the average movie goer who is in for a treat.

My favorites tend to be the quieter ones like “Las Vegas,” simply to give the ears a break from the drums, if only for a little while. “A Key To The Past” is also a very good one. It has this mysterious heir about it that makes it compositionally interesting. Take a listen or two to this. You would really like it. Give it a shot!
