While I'm writing this, I’m watching Croatian soccer fans throw fireworks onto the field where their team is actually in the lead of the game. Yesterday a British politician got shot and stabbed on the street, while she was on her way to meet the locals, the way my local politicians do too. And it's all happening a week after the killing of an upcoming The Voice singer and 49 club goers in Orlando. What on earth is happening in the world today?
Christina has a point in her, just released, new song “Change”. The world seemed a lot better when you're little and you're completely unaware of the world’s harsh side. And it only seems to get harsher the more time passes.
While the pictures of her youth pass you by, in her lyrics video for the song, Christina is clearly putting to music what we are all longing for: A world with acceptance, a better world. It couldn't have been a better subject for the singer to return with.
It's her first new music since 2012. She’s at her best when she's true to herself - whether you accept that or not. And she's not afraid to stand up and show support to those who are different from the masses. As she's an icon to the gay community, she's the right person to do this song.
The song is dedicated to all the victims of the senseless Orlando shooting and follows a lot of musical reactions to the tragedy that took place in the Pulse. It’s a powerful ballad with a gospel sound, thanks to choir, but it's kept really simple so the message is the strongest part of the song. And let's face it, that's what everyone should remember.
