So make no mistake Cartoons gone wild. Horrific and absurd personages have become insane, there are chasing you everywhere. There is no any chance to run away and hide. And once they reach you they give you flowers and plastic elephants. They want you to play and dance with them. These cartoons want you to listen to their stories. Trust these guys – they won’t hurt you. Just sit by the fire and listen to their marvelous stories of horror, love, passion and tears. Trust these guys. They are crazy because of beautiful music – Nevermen made them act that way. Nevermen made them so sincere and alive.
Nevermen is the “leaderless trio”. It consists of (ATTENTION!): Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle, Tomahawk, Fantomas and many more), Tunde Adebimpe (TV On The Radio) and Adam “Doseone” Drucker (Anticon, Clouddead, Themselves and many more).
Nevermen is not a side-project or some super group according to Ipecac webpage. It’s just a band of three long time partners and friends making really improbable and magic music – so easily and lightly. No leaders, no sh*t – just music flowing like an endless brook of pure water. Good picture, isn’t it? And suddenly cartoon characters start drinking this water and go crazy: they want to tell you stories about “Tough Towns”, “Mr. Mistake”, animal traps and other essential stuff. Yeah! By the way, also try Boards of Canada remix of “Mr. Mistake” – it’s just great.
So Nevermen released their self-titled debut this winter. I think you should not miss this work of joy, delight and art, of course. A mix of pop, rock, soul and hip hop will make you dance with drawn characters somewhere deep in the sky with ponies and dragons. Or your sex life will change for better. Something will change for better definitely.
