Brooklyn-based American rock band, R Train, is about to release their newest ripping single, “Timeline.” This trio hooks you immediately with a rocking drum roll into an electric guitar chord progression reminiscent of The Police or The Killers. This track has a sense of classic rock nostalgia with a touch of modern rock. The band’s name came about while traveling on the New York Subway, the R Train. They were taking the train from Bay Ridge Brooklyn to Manhattan, to master a couple of tracks at Battery Studios, also known as the legendary “Record Plant” at 321 44th St. The Plant, as it is known today, is home to some of the greatest recordings of all time - from the likes of John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Aerosmith, Kiss, and countless other greats. As the train swayed back and forth, the two thought, “we are in the greatest city in the world, traveling on the ride of a lifetime,” it was at that moment “The R Train Band” was born.
The band is made up of vocalist and guitarist Jeffrey Black, drummer and vocalist Mike Annese, and bassist Denny Lee. The three of them wanted this song to be about the inevitability of time, with an edgy rock-n-roll feel. Jeffrey Black accompanies the intense guitar, drums, and bass, with his melodic vocals, comparable to that of My Bloody Valentine. “Time is all you’ve really got....so don't you throw it away," sings Black, reminding his listeners that life is just too short, and living in the present moment is the best we can do to take advantage of it.
The R Train Band keeps the energy alive throughout “Timeline,” as it is a call to action for their listeners to live life to the absolute fullest. It’s almost like they’re coming from the future to tell us not to wish our lives away.
