Gilli Moon is an Australian singer-songwriter that has built an amazing, award-winning discography. Since the year 2000, she has released 8 full albums. Her latest album, “Beautiful Mess Vol. 1,” is stock-full of bops. The first track on the record, “Fire,” is a 2 minute pop anthem that builds and sets the precedent for the rest of the record.
The album consists of 12 tracks. Each song highlights a step of the journey of Gilli’s life. Creating her brand, moving to LA from Australia, becoming a parent, and all of the beautiful emotions that come with each milestone. Gilli speaks to other women with this record who are experiencing similar situations.
The third track, “Intangible,” is a testament to Gilli’s ambition and versatility in life and in music. While the first two tracks are driving, fast-paced, and complex, this third track is a bit slower and really showcases her vocal range. “I’m scared of what you think, maybe I fear that I won’t succeed,” she says in the second verse. These lyrics portray her fear of failing while chasing her “intangible” dream. She also highlights her voice and vulnerability with the very last track, “I See Your Face.” After an entire album of exciting production and powerful lyrics, she ends on a passionate note with the authenticity of this stripped track.
“Beautiful Mess Vol. 1” was released on January 21st, 2021. Thankfully, we get to hear more from Gilli with the second half of the album coming February 19th. We cannot wait to hear how these two releases tie together, and of course, how Gilli’s talent and hard work shines through.
