We got the oppotunity to catch up with Eric Selby about his insprations and muscial endeavors a few weeks ago. Since then, he has released his long-awaited solo album Do, Baby. and we are so excited to share this album with you!
Eric Selby has had an outstanding career in the music industry over the years and we can only imagine the overflow of emotions that was accompanied with his induction into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2012. If you get the opportunity to chat with Selby, he will certainly mention that The Beatles and Pink Floyd are inspirations of his which he likes to thank growing up with 5 brothers for.
It's funny how the influences of our childhood can follow us well into our adult years. Eric is now a single father to four daughters and these influences the bones of his latest release. His second single "The First Taste" has clear Pink Floyd influences with the heavier Rock N Roll vibe that exists in this track but the album is balanced out with other songs like "Patiently" and "Throw It All Away" which definitley have the softer sounds of The Beatles oozing through the soundwaves.
Though there is much nostalgic influence present on Do, Baby. it is also clear that he is not afraid to take risks with his music as these tracks feature some unique choices regarding instrumentation, particularly the inclusion of more acoustic brass and string instruments.
We definitely encourage you to curl up this quarentine, maybe light some candles and stream Do, Baby. on your streaming platform of choice!
