The Monsieurs Should Be Experienced Live

Album reviewed by:

If you approach the latest LP by The Monsieurs without any information about them, you will probably think it is the closest thing to the first demo tape of The Hives after zombie apocalypse. Strangely enough, this is a trio that performs with one guitar and primitive version of a drum, but they somehow manage to produce enormous amount of noise, compacted in rock 'n' roll style.

The ex members of Tunnel Of Love and Fuzzy, Andy Macbain with his voice and Hilken Mancini and Erin King with their instruments, shoot their energy brutally right into your flash. When it comes to inspiration, Andy mentions only one emotion - anger. Already the first song Burning Flame manifests their rawness and power, and it proves that the band is capable of making catchy melodies that spread all the way to power pop on Suburban Girls. My favorites are At The Hop and Coucou for which they also have video materials. I am also in love with High School Star.

Everything is explained in press promo material - It's never not a good time to slap a record like this on, and it's always a good time when you slap a record like this on.

I would add that this type of music can only truly be experienced live
