Young At Heart, Ringo Starr

Richard Starkley is approaching his 80th birthday, but nothing shows that he is old. For Ringo Starr, it's like time has stopped. Who knows, maybe he met some alchemist who gave him the serum of eternal youth, because appearing this infantile, in the best connotation possible, is simply unbelievable.

Ringo Starr has just released his new records that cames only two years after Postcards From Paradise. In this manner, he continues his stream of dropping albums every few years. Meanwhile, he is on short tours, mostly in the States, offering mega spectacle through presentation of his longitudinal work. The initial idea for this album was to record a country album with his good old friend Dave Stewart (Eurythmics), but he gave up on that idea and created a classic Ringo rock album that provides a little bit of something for everybody. In collaboration with his band All-Starr Band (RS, Steve Lukather from Toto, Joe Walsh from Eagles, Jeff Lynne from ELO, Peter Frampton, Edgar Winter, Dave Stewart...among others), he made an album in his home studio in LA. The first single is a title track Gimme More Love, a cute pop rock piece with sticky poly-vocals, while the second one We're on The Road Again sees appearance of Paul McCartney on the bass and back vocal. We will also hear Paul on Show Me The Way. Old friendships last long and are difficult to forget. Nice.

So Wrong For So Long is a classic country number produced by Dave Stewart, and it serves as the third single. It was probably one of the bases around which country album was supposed to be built before the sonic diorama went in different direction. Still, as the doyen and declared, fervent lover of country music, Ringo had to put something from this genre on his album. The last single taken from the album is Standing Still, a typical pop rock tune. On blues flavored electronic Electicity, Ringo is reminiscing about his early days in Liverpool and the venue he played with Rorry And The Hurricanes, while Shake It Up is a classic rock 'n' roll in the style of Stray Cats.

Ringo Starr is taking us through pop, rock, country, r'n'r and shows us that he is stil in good shape. He is also still having fun and enjoying his work process. Deluxe edition brings four bonus tracks that are new reading of Ringo's jams from the past. Back Off Bogaloo was a single in 1972 inspired by Marc Bolan. You Can't Fight Lightning from 1973 Stop And Smell The Roses and Photograph from 1973 album Ringo wrap up this release in the dignified fashion. And that's it. We gave got another classic, good Ringo album.
