Being an artist with so many successes and hit songs produced is the most blessing thing that can happen to an artist and also extremely hard to achieve. Well, I don't know if it was hard to achieve, but surely Sting is one of those artists! He is a remarkable musician that still rocks (at age of 66!) with his musical intellect, stories, voice, and lyrics. "57th & 9th" is the twelfth studio album since his start as a solo artist. This album includes wonderful songs and musical ideas through the whole album along. The name of the album is actually the name of the street (in New York) that Sting always passes by while walking towards the studio and all the way back to his home. The meaning of the street to him is as he says, he is always forced to stop even for a minute there because of the traffic, however, he enjoys it because in that minute he has time to think about everything that is going on in his life, and remind himself to be grateful for it. He sees it as a beautiful daily Meditation routine.
"57th & 9th" starts with the track " I Can't Stop Thinking About You". This Tune is the first single released from the album. It is a pop rock song with a great melody. A catchy song that can warm up your soul. As a second track on the album is "50 000" and it is inspired by the Deaths of David Bowie, Prince, and other legends that died in 2016. A song with the "Best Riff" goes to Petrol Head. It's a powerful rock song with the strong "dirty" vocals of Sting. "57th & 9th" has also another "acoustic" side of it, and it includes the songs like "Heading South on the Great North Road", "If You Can't Love Me", "Inshallah" ( I connect this song to his "Desert Rose", mostly because of the vibe of the song, the way he is singing especially in the Chorus, and also some of the choices of the instruments can be matched easily), "Empty Chair" etc.
The album consists 10 Tracks, and each one is telling a different story. If we just read the lyrics without listening to the music it is very noticeable that is written by someone who experienced a lot in his life. There are many wise words, hidden messages, and good points to think about our lives and our purpose. Overall the album exceeded my expectations.
