Deap Vally Tells Us What Not To Do

I presume it would be safe to say that Deap Vally flew out of the San Francisco Bay area at full throttle towards any neighboring stage they could play. In doing that exact action, Deap Vally is being heard all over as well as international. Combined with their love for Jack White riffs, as of late with their latest album Femejism, a harder course of Rock n' Roll has been coming off of the duo.

With the release of Femejism in September of 2016, a flourish of feminist ideas, ways of life and self-expression is at the forefront. The fifth track 'Smile More' acts as the calling card, the full introduction, middle and ending towards the message Femejism pertains towards.

'Smile More' describes a daily occurrence between thoughts and what many women face today.  Whether it's about being ashamed, treated, mental health or even body weight. The song easily will in time become a beacon of unabashed hope and will be worthy of future generations anthem material.

Deap Vally is tracing out their own path to creating the type of music they want to hear. The kind of music they want to play. There are no big record companies pressing record and play with this duo, Deap Vally clearly is living the life they intend to carve out themselves. This could be the empowerment felt throughout the song and Femejism itself.

Since the beginning Deap Vally, even though only a duo, the band has a dynamic unable to be filtered, there is a true raw signature at hand. The powerhouse combo of drums and electric guitar with effects never ceases to fill an entire room. Julie Edwards and Lindsey Troy drive away the maddening effects of modern day drama with a reverb/scuzz phase full of promising and captivating intentions.
