Miminokoto - Orange Garage

Miminokoto is a pretty well-known experimental Japanese psychedelic rock/garage rock/psychedelic noise rock band. They have released many great albums through the years, but the album under review here is ''Orange Garage'' - an album from 2005. The album packs some melodic and meandering psychedelic garage rock from start to finish.

''Orange Garage'' starts off with a track titled ''Dokonimo ver 2'', and it packs some fine dreamy and meandering melodic psychedelic rock. The reverbing guitars and the low end hum of a pretty cool bassline make this track pretty awesome. The second track ''Tokedasu'' puts forth some more fast paced tempo and fine fuzzy guitar improvisation, and thus packs a pretty awesome psychedelic noise rock piece in a very distinctly Miminokoto'esque manner. The third track ''Tottemo ver 2'' again moves in a very similar pattern, and packs some catchy psych rock, while the fourth track ''Mizame'' being somewhat mellower material. This interlude doesn't last very long as ''Yumekara ver 2'' again moves into fuzzy and noisy psychedelic noise rock right after ''Mizame'' ends its melodic mellowness. The album however is ended by a 16-minute long slow and meadering dreamy piece titled ''Kumononaka'', which brings the album to its rather contemplative conclusion.

All in all ''Orange Garage'' is not perhaps the best Miminokoto album, but it is definitely worth listening as the album is sort of a meeting point between White Heaven and Ha-Za-Ma, while still managing to pack sounds that are distinctly relatable to Miminokoto.
