Distored Pony - Instant Winner

Distorted Pony are a cult noise-rock band from the US. They started back in the late 1980s and disbanded in the middle of the 1990s. During this time they however recorded two great noise rock albums, out of which the best might just as well be their 1994 album ''Instant Winner''. The album packs some fine noise rock with some subtle hardcore and industrial influences.

The album starts off with a track titled ''Dept. Of Existence'', which essentially blows one away with its heavy repetitive and almost melodic psychedelic noise rock. This also makes it one of the best tracks on the entire album. ''Smitten'' also packs some no-nonsense heavy noise-rock riffage and does not dissappoint to any degree. The same exact thing can be said about the feedback and distortion laden ''Lamb Stink'', as well as about ''Big Sprawling Corrupt''. One of the best tracks on the album is however the sixth track ''Slow Leak'', which packs some fine heavy noise-rock repetition in a thoroughly memorable manner. Nothing bad can be said about any of the tracks on this album though, as all of them pack some addictive feedback and distortion laden noise-rock, with ''Sparkle'' and the hardcore influenced ''Cripple'' standing out more.

All in all ''Instant Winner'' definitely retains its place as one of the best early 90s noise rock albums and one of the best noise rock albums of all time. The great thing about this particular albums is that none of the songs tend to dissappoint and all of them are pretty damn awesome in one way or another - summing the essence of Trance Syndicate up pretty darn well.
