Dead Rabbits - Everything Is A Lie

Dead Rabbits are a neo-psych/shoegaze/psych rock band from the United Kingdom. Their latest album ''Everything Is A Lie'' came out just very recently and it packs some rather fine orthodox dreamy and meandering neo-psychedelia from start to finish. That is of course nothing surprising from a band like Dead Rabbits though.

The first track on the album is titled ''Everything Is A Lie'' and it offers some rather mellow dreamy neo-psychedelia with a pretty catchy repetitive low bassline and some echoing psych guitars that propell the psych motion forward. Whatever the case may be the track feels like pretty usual neo-psych. Usual not in a bad way, but more so in a pretty good but predictable neo-psych way. The following two tracks work in a pretty similar fashion, and pack some rather catchy basslines and meandering murky psychedelic guitar bits throughout. At some points the track titled 'Honestly'' also has a post-rock feel to it though. The fourth track ''Someday'' works in somewhat of an Americana way in my opinion in parts, while still packing a pretty clear neo-psych vibe. ''All Your Little Lies'' on the other hand packs some pretty fine psych guitars and thus is a pretty good track all in all. And perhaps one of the best tracks on this album as well. The following track ''I Don't Want To Die Today'' interestingly feels a bit like The Jesus and Mary Chain to me. Something that isn't a bad thing of course. ''You Already Know'' is a track that ends the album, and it packs some cool feedback in the beginning on top of a nice bassline. Only bad thing about it is that this happens in a refined neo-psych way and not in an uncontrolled improvisational noise-rock kind of way. The rest of the track however works as a usual neo-psych track to my ear.

All in all ''Everything Is A Lie'' is a pretty decent neo-psych album and doesn't really dissappoint in its own particular niche or genre. If we however look at the wider scale then this album doesn't offer anything remarkable or something that stands out. Thus I would say this is an album for niche consumption, but a good one in that.
