Tyvek - Origin Of What

Tyvek are a pretty well-known American lo-fi garage rock/noise rock band, who have released a number of great albums through the years. Their latest album ''Origin Of What'' came out recently, and as one would expect from Tyvek then the album packs some fine addictive lo-fi garage rock from start to finish.

The album starts off with a track titled ''Tip To Tail'' and it packs some fine noisy garage rock throughout, as well as a pretty decent addictive garage rock solo in the midst of it. The second track ''Can't Exist'' is quite similar in its structure and almost the same words apply to this one too. Both of the tracks are pretty up-beat and catchy in a noisy garage rock sense, and this is really what anyone would expect from Tyvek, isn't it? The third track ''Girl On The Bicycle'', as well as the fourth track ''Gridlock'' are similarly up-beat in their noisy lo-fi garage rock ways. ''Mirror Image Of'' on the other hand is probably the best track on the entire album. The track starts off similarly to the previous ones, but it is the fine noisy garage rock/noise rock repetition of the second half of the song that makes this one kick ass on a much higher level than any the tracks that came before it. ''Into The Outlets'' also has a pretty decent short noisy addictive garage rock bit to it, while the title track ''Origin Of What'' is another rather fuzzy garage rock track, which kicks ass due to its repetitive noisy lo-fi heavyness. The track also has a less up-beat feel to it and that is also something good in my opinion. Thus making it perhaps the second best track of the entire album after ''Mirror Image Of''.

All in all ''Origin Of What'' tends to be a pretty solid lo-fi garage rock/noise rock album in its own right, and thus an album exactly like one would expect from Tyvek. There are some awesome tracks, while there are some pretty decent tracks as well, but overall the album is quite balanced and will go into the book as one of the better garage rock releases of 2016. Anyone who is into some catchy up-beat garage rock will find this album to their liking.
