LSD March - Suddenly, Like Flames

LSD March is a renowned Japanese underground psychedelic noise rock band. They have released a great number of albums through the years, and while most of their albums can be considered as classics in the midst of the Japanese psych underground, then one of their best albums to date is probably ''Suddenly, Like Flames''. An album that they released back in 2002, and which packs some truly fine psychedelic rock.

The first track on the album is titled ''The Lamp - Tomorrow's Godard'' and it offers some fascinating mellow Japanese psych rock with a smooth feel of neo-psychedelia. The second track ''Black Bouquet'' however moves to more familiar LSD March terrain with its bluesy, catchy and at parts intensively noisy Japanese psych rock. The guitar improvisation on this track sounds truly awesome, and it is one of the best tracks on this album. The third track ''When I Die, Hell Awaits'' moves in some murky and rather melancholic bluesy psych realms, while the fourth track ''A Bud Of Flesh''  is equally murky and bluesy. The fifth track ''Suddenly, Like Flames'' however puts forth some mind blowing noisy as hell psychedelic improvisation from start to finish. The following ''Clepsydra Flames'' also boasts some fast paced psych rock, whereas the last track ''After The Storm'' again moves into mellower dreamy world of meandering psychedelia.

All in all ''Suddenly, Like Flames'' remains as one of the best LSD March albums, as well as one of the best albums from the whole Japanese psychedelic noise rock scene, and is worth checking out by anyone who loves noisy guitar improvisation, catchy yet bluesy passages, and some meandering melancholic psych.
