Bear Bones, Lay Low - Valléé de Dith

Bear Bones, Lay Low is a one-man psychedelic rock band of Ernesto Gonzalez from Venezuela. This relatively prolific one-man psych rock band is however now located in Belgium. Bear Bones, Lay Low has released quite a few albums and EPs through the years, all of which tend to be a mixture of drone, psychedelic rock, krautrock, noise, noise rock and experimental psychedelia. The best among them in my personal opinion is however Vallee de Dith. An album that was released back in 2009 by the Belgian label Kraak.

The album starts off with a short track titled ''Entrade de Vallee'' that works like an interlude, only to be followed by the lenghtier ''Raaaaaa!''. This track packs some fine drumming along with some interesting psych guitars with an Eastern folk feel to them, leading its way towards the best track of this album ''Bougles are Lighted''. This track packs some fine slowly evolving droney psychedelic rock, offering a catchy repetitive bass section and some quite awesome drones along with some improvisational psych guitars. Making for a thoroughly enjoyable dark psychedelic journey. The fourth track ''Cosmic Herbs'' puts forth some relatively ambient psychedelic drones from start to finish, wheareas ''Bass Vomiting' moves in a whole other direction with its fast-paced krautrock bassline and equally kraut infused guitars. The seventh track ''Lochness'' moves again to the slowly evolving eerie darkened psych realm, and tends to pack some pretty mezmerizing improvisational echo laden guitars similar to many Japanese underground psych outfits. The last track ''Vallee de Dith'' on the other hand has a more upbeat atmosphere and almost sounds like a drone infused journey though a Japanese samurai film set in the 17th century.

All in all 'Vallee de Dith'' is a pretty interesting album that packs some fine darkened psychedelia, ambient psychedelic drones, as well as interesting improvisational guitar play in parts, and is definitely worth checking out.
